Morris, R O

Morris, R(eginald) O(wen) (1886–1948)

English teacher and composer. He was educated at Harrow, New College, Oxford, and the Royal College of Music in London, where he later became professor of counterpoint and composition. In 1926 he was appointed to a similar post at the Curtis Institute at Philadelphia, but soon returned to England. His books include Contrapuntal Technique in the 16th Century, Foundations of Practical Harmony and Counterpoint, The Structure of Music.
