Morris County

Administrative district in north-central New Jersey; area 1,217 sq km/470 sq mi, population (1990) 421,400. This largely suburban and residential county is bounded on the east and southeast by the Passaic River, and has its seat at Morristown.

Morris County is hilly and lake-studded, with Lake Hopatcong on its western border. It is home to numerous resorts and recreational facilities. Agricultural activities in the region include fruit growing, market gardening, and dairy farming. Offices and light industries are spreading through the county, especially in areas along Interstate 80 such as the Parsippany–Troy Hills.
