Mortari, Virgilio (1902-1993)

Italian composer. A pupil of Pizzetti, he was professor of composition at the S Cecilia Conservatory in Rome from 1940 and director of the Teatro La Fenice, Venice, from 1955 to 1959.

Works

opera La scuola delle mogli (after Molière, 1930); rhapsody for orchestra; concerto for quartet and orchestra, piano concerto; chamber music; partita for violin; songs.
