Morton, Henry Vollam (1892–1979)

English journalist and travel writer. He was the author of the In Search of .. series published during the 1950s. His earlier travel books include The Heart of London (1925), In the Steps of the Master (1934), Through Lands of the Bible (1938), and Middle East (1941). Later works include This is Rome (1960) and H V Morton's England (1975).

He was born in Birmingham and began his writing career on the staff of the Birmingham Gazette 1910, becoming assistant editor two years later. He made his reputation as an author with a number of books about London and the British Isles, based on a close knowledge of his subjects.
