Moss Point

City in Jackson County, in the far southeast of Mississippi; population (1990) 17,800. Moss Point lies on the Escatawpa River 6 km/4 mi north of Pascagoula and the Gulf of Mexico. This primarily industrial city, with a predominantly black population, manufactures paper, pulp, textiles, timber, and fish meal.
