Mossley

Town in Greater Manchester, England, 5 km/3 mi from Oldham; population (2001) 9,900. It is beside the River Tame on a hilly site, and has textile and engineering industries.

Mossley now lies within the Tameside borough of Greater Manchester. A former municipal borough of Lancashire, it used to belong also, in part, to Cheshire and Yorkshire.
