motivation theory

Theory such as the two-factor theory relating to the factors that motivate employees in the workplace, mostly propounded by academics in the fields of psychology and sociology. Motivation theory tends to focus on the needs of workers. Researchers such as Australian-born psychologist Elton Mayo, of the human relations school of management, and US psychologist and management theorist Fred Herzberg have suggested factors such as self-esteem, social needs, achievement, and involvement as important motivators.
