Mount Kisco

Town in Westchester County, southeastern New York State, 58 km/36 mi north-northeast of New York City; population (1990) 9,100.

This mainly affluent residential community contains many restored Victorian houses; much of the movie Ragtime, based on the novel by E L Doctorow, was filmed in a Mount Kisco home. Its shopping district serves much of north Westchester.
