Mount Olive

Town in Wayne County, eastern North Carolina, 21 km/13 mi south-southwest of Goldsboro; population (1990) 4,600. An agricultural trading centre (noted as a bean market), it was established with the arrival of the railway in 1839, and is home to Mount Olive College, a Baptist training institute (founded 1951).
