Mouton, Jean (c. 1459–1522)

French composer. He was in the service of Louis XII and François I, and became canon of Thérouanne, which he left probably on its being taken by the English in 1513, and afterwards of the collegiate church of Saint-Quentin.

He was a pupil of Josquin Desprez.

Fourteen Masses, 110 motets, psalms, Alleluia and In illo tempore for Easter, Noe, noe, psallite for Christmas, and other pieces.
