Moynihan, Berkeley George Andrew (1865–1936)

English surgeon, born in Malta. He gained an international reputation as an abdominal surgeon, particularly in the treatment of duodenal ulcer. His writings include Abdominal Operations (1905) and Duodenal Ulcer (1910).

Moynihan qualified in medicine in 1887. From 1896 to 1926 he was professor of clinical surgery at Leeds University, England. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1890 and was president from 1926 to 1932. He was a founder of the British Journal of Surgery in 1913. He was knighted in 1912, created a baronet in 1922, and raised to the peerage in 1929.
