Mrozek, Sławomir (1930–1993)

Polish dramatist. His political allegories include Policja/The Police (1958), Na pełnym morzu/Out at Sea (1961), Striptease (1961), and Tango (1965), the play that brought him to attention in the West. It deals with the destruction of traditional values and the dominance of brute force and vulgarity. The later work Emigranci/The Emigrés (1975) is a study of two exiles of different backgrounds whose fates coincide.
