Mu-Chi (or Muqi) (c. 1180–c. 1270)

Chinese painter of the Song dynasty. A Chan Buddhist, he employed a technique based on intuition and spontaneity. One of his best-known works is Six Persimmons (early 13th century; Daitoku-ji, Kyoto), illustrating his ability to depict an object with a few deft brush strokes.
