Muffat, Gottlieb (Theophil) (1690–1770)

German organist and composer. Son of Georg Muffat and a pupil of Fux in Vienna from 1704, he entered the service of the court in 1717 and became first organist in 1741. Among his pupils were Wagenseil and the Empress Maria Theresa.
