Mufumbiro

Chain of volcanic mountains on the borders between southwest Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire). It consists of two groups: the Western Mufumbiro, which lie directly north of Lake Kivu and contain two active volcanoes; and the Eastern Mufumbiro, which include the highest peak, Karisimbi (4,505 m/14,780 ft).
