Muine Bheag

Market town in County Carlow, Republic of Ireland; population (2002) 2,540. The town lies on the River Barrow and is a centre for fishing and hunting. It was founded by Walter Bagenal at the end of the 18th century.

Some 3 km/2 mi east are the extensive ruins of Ballymoon Castle, a square enclosure with rectangular towers and buildings within the enclosure.
