multiple

Any number that is the product of a given number. For example, the sequences 5, 10, 15, 20, 25... are multiples of 5; and 2, 4, 6, 8, 10... are multiples of 2. These sequences form multiplication tables. Some multiples are common to several multiplication tables. In the sequence 10, 20, 30... all are multiples of 2, 5, and 10. The lowest of this sequence is 10 and this is, therefore, known as the lowest common multiple (lcm) of 2, 5, and 10.

If N appears in the multiplication table of n, it is a multiple of n; it follows from this that n is a factor of N. For example, 18 is a multiple of 3 since it appears in the multiplication table of 3, and 3 is a factor of 18 for the same reason.
