Mungret

Village in County Limerick, Republic of Ireland, 5 km/3 mi west of Limerick City; population (2002) 248. There is a large cement factory. Mungret has a 15th-century monastic ruin on the site of a 6th-century foundation.

The ruins of Carrigogunnel Castle stand on a rocky outcrop 5 km/3 mi to the west. The castle was built by the O'Briens in the 14th century.
