Murphy, Audie (1924-1971)

US actor and war hero. He starred mainly in low-budget westerns. His more prestigious work includes The Red Badge of Courage (1951), The Quiet American (1958), and The Unforgiven (1960). He was the most decorated US soldier of World War II and played himself in the film story of his war years, To Hell and Back (1955).
