Murray Bridge

Town in South Australia, on the Murray River, 80 km/ 50 mi southeast of Adelaide; population (1996) 15,527. Murray Bridge is situated on the Adelaide–Melbourne road and railway line. It is the centre of an extensive dairying industry, and products include wool, cereal crops, fruit, and vegetables. It is Australia's largest river town and a popular tourist resort. It is also a major thoroughfare for travellers and trade between Melbourne and Adelaide.
