Murrill, Herbert (Henry John) (1909–1952)

English composer. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at Worcester College, Oxford. After holding various organist's posts from 1926, he became professor of composition at the Royal Academy of Music in 1933, joined the music staff of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in 1936 and became Head of Music in 1950.

Man in Cage (1930).

Orchestral

three hornpipes for orchestra; two concertos and three pieces for cello and orchestra.

Chamber

string quartet and other chamber music.
