Myron (c. 500–440 BC)Greek sculptor. A late contemporary of Phidias, he is known to have made statues of the athletes Timanthes (456 BC) and Lycinus (448 BC), excelling in the representation of movement. His bronze Discobolus/Discus-Thrower and Athene and Marsyas, much admired in his time, are known through Roman copies, which confirm his ancient reputation for brilliant composition and naturalism.
