Mystic River

River, 11 km/7 mi long, that rises in the Mystic Lakes, in the Winchester and Arlington districts of Boston, and flows, by way of Medford, Somerville, Malden, and Everett, into Boston Harbor at Charlestown.

In its lower reaches, the Mystic River is heavily industrial, and is the site of container ports and liquefied natural-gas terminals. Above a dam at the border between the Malden and Everett districts, it has been somewhat reclaimed, and is partly lined by parks. The Mystic River (Tobin) Bridge carries traffic on US 1 between Charlestown and Chelsea, at the river's mouth.
