Nysa| Industrial town (machinery, food processing) in Opole province, southern Poland, on the River Nysa, 48 km/30 mi southwest of Opole; population (2001 est) 48,300. It was capital of a principality of the bishops of Breslau (now Wrocław) 1198–1810, and part of German Upper Silesia until 1945. |
