Nairn

Summer resort and former royal burgh in east Highland unitary authority, Scotland, situated on the Moray Firth, 24 km/15 mi northeast of Inverness; population (2001) 8,400. Established in 1124, Nairn was once predominantly a fishing town and agricultural centre, but since the mid-19th century tourism has evolved as a major industry. The harbour is now frequented by pleasure boats. Visitors are attracted by excellent beach and bathing resources, and a number of fine golf courses.
