Namuth, Hans (1915–1990)

German-born US photographer. He specialized in portraits and documentary work. He began as a photojournalist in Europe in the 1930s and opened a portrait studio in New York 1950. His work includes documentation of the Guatemalan Mam Indians (published as Los Todos Santeros 1989) and of US artists from the 1950s (published as Artists 1950–1981). He also carried out assignments for magazines.
