Narayan, Jaya Prakash (1902–1979)

Indian politician. A veteran socialist, he was an associate of Vinobha Bham in the Bhoodan movement for rural reforms that took place during the last years of British rule. He was prominent in the protest movement against Indira Gandhi's emergency regime 1975–77, and acted as umpire in the Janata party leadership contest that followed Indira Gandhi's defeat in 1977.
