National Information Infrastructure

In computing, US network, often referred to as the information superhighway, that embraces every component of the Internet – from the satellites that carry the data to the PCs and telephone links that Americans use to access the Net. The NII was a 1995 US government initiative, the implementation of which was left to the private sector. The project aims to give all Americans access to the country's information and computing resources.
