Naumburg Convention

    0.01 sec.

Naumburg Convention

A meeting of German princes and Protestant theologians in 1561 designed to achieve doctrinal unity in accordance with the Confession of Augsburg. It failed because the Lutherans insisted on the original articles of 1530 (invariata) and the Calvinists preferred those of 1540 (variata). A papal invitation to send delegates to the Council of Trent was declined.
