navigation map

In computing, specialized tool to help users find their way around a Web site. Colourful graphics overlay a hidden grid, like that on a conventional map, containing hypertext links. Users navigate by placing their cursor on an image and clicking the mouse, sending a ‘map reference’ back to the Web site which activates a link. Navigation maps give the designer more control over how the page will appear on the screen, and are more attractive than conventional links.
