English Quaker. A persuasive preacher, he travelled through England gathering followers. In 1656 he allowed some of his followers to lead him into Bristol as Christ was led riding into Jerusalem. He was tried by Parliament for blasphemy and imprisoned for three years. He repented and returned to preaching after his release.
