Neenah

City in Winnebago County, east Wisconsin, on the Fox River near Lake Winnebago, north of Oshkosh; population (1990) 23,200. To the east is Menasha, with which it forms one community. It is a processing and marketing center for the area's agricultural products, and the paper industry is important.

Neenah was settled in 1835. Its name derives from a Winnebago term for ‘running water’, referring to the rapids on the Fox River.
