Neiman, LeRoy

Neiman, LeRoy (1927– )

US illustrator. Recognized as the consummate sports artist of the 20th century. In 1972 he was named the official artist for the Olympic games. He was designated the outstanding sports artist in the USA by the Amateur Athletic Union (1976) and was given the Olympic Artist of the Century Award in 1979.

Neiman was born in St Paul, Minnesota. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago (1946–50) and the University of Illinois (1951).
