Nelson, Marjorie Maxine (1909-1962)

US biochemist. One of the first to study environmental factors in fetal development; her research demonstrated that malnutrition causes fetal damage.

Nelson was born in Kansas City, Missouri. A University of California: Berkeley PhD, she was a staff biochemist at the Institute of Experimental Biology there (1944-58).
