Nemir, Rosa Lee (1906–1992)

US pediatrician. One of the first women to become a full professor of pediatrics, she spent her career at the New York University medical school (1930–91). A pulmonary and pediatrics specialist, she studied the effects of steroids on tuberculosis and was the first to use the drug rifampin to treat the disease. She promoted medical careers for women through various national and international organizations. Nemir was born in Waco, Texas.
