neo-populism

Ideological trend in Soviet Russia in the 1920s which insisted on the basis of empirical studies that Marxist theory was not applicable to the peasant economy and that the best course in agricultural policy would be to support individual peasant farming and encourage peasant cooperatives.

The communists considered neo-populism an ideology of the kulak peasant, and with the beginning of the collectivization of agriculture, neo-populism was suppressed and its leaders imprisoned.
