Nepean

City in Ottawa-Carleton Regional Municipality, in southeastern Ontario; population (1991) 107,600. Nepean lies on the Ottawa River, immediately southwest of Ottawa and east of Kanata, opposite Aylmer, Québec.

Nepean is home to several large national military, communications, and agricultural research centres. Industries here include computer technology and brewing. Residential neighbourhoods are concentrated in the northeast, while the Stony Swamp Conservation Area encompasses much of the west.
