Netcom

In computing, major US-based Internet Service Provider (ISP), founded in 1988 to provide college students with off-campus access to university computer facilities. In 1996 the company claimed to be the world's largest ISP, with some 500,000 subscribers. Netcom was taken over by Viatel in March 2003.

Verizon and GN Netcom have signed a licensing agreement to introduce a series of Verizon-branded headsets for use with broadband services and applications, including online gaming and IP telephony.
