Netley

Village in Hampshire, England, 5 km/3 mi southeast of Southampton; population (2001) 6,150. There are ruins of a Cistercian abbey, in the Early English and Decorated styles, dating from the early 13th century. The Royal Victoria Hospital was opened here to care for soldiers after the Crimean War.
