Neuhold, Günter (1947– )

Austrian conductor. He studied in Rome and Vienna and was first conductor at Hanover and Dortmund from 1980. He was guest conductor with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and music director of the Teatro Regio in Parma from 1981. From 1986 he was principal guest conductor with the Dresden Staatskapelle and music director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders (with whom he toured Japan and the UK). Since 1989 he has conducted as the director of the Karlsruhe Opera. His recordings include symphonies by Mahler and Bruckner, Berlioz's Faust Symphony, and The Rite of Spring.
