Neumann, Wolfgang (1945- )

Austrian tenor. He made his debut in Bielefeld in 1973, as Weber's Max. He sang at Augsburg from 1978, and Mannheim from 1980. He sung Tannhäuser at Florence in 1983 and Schoenberg's Aron at Barcelona. He made his New York debut at the Metropolitan Opera House in 1988, as Siegfried under James Levine. In 1989 and 1990 he appeared as the Cardinal in Hindemith's Mathis der Maler at Munich, and as Wagner's Rienzi at Buenos Aires. His concert repertory includes Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde and Schoenberg's Gurrelieder.
