Neustadt an der Weinstrasse

City in the Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, situated at the foot of the Haardtberge, 71 km/44 mi southwest of Mainz; population (1995) 53,800. The wine-trading centre of the largest wine-producing region in Germany, Neustadt also manufactures concrete, metal goods, paper, and textiles. There is a 14th-century church.
