Nevis

Island in the West Indies, one of the Leeward islands, forming part of the state of St Kitts and Nevis; area 93 sq km/36 sq mi; population (1997) 9,000. Nevis consists of a single large volcano, Nevis Peak (height 985 m/3,232 ft), which rises at the centre of the island and gives it its circular form. The main products are sea-island cotton and coconuts.
