New Lexington

City and seat of Perry County, in southeastern Ohio, 31 km/19 mi south-southwest of Zanesville; population (1990) 5,100. It is a trade and distribution centre for the area, which is supported by coalmining and the extraction of natural gas and oil. Some farming also takes place in the vicinity.
