Newton-John, Olivia (1948- )

English-born Australian pop singer. She achieved success with the single ‘If Not For You’ (1971) and a number of singles and albums followed which were pop and country hits in the UK and USA. She starred alongside John Travolta in the film Grease (1978), and ‘You're The One That I Want’, a song from the film, was an international hit.

She was born in Cambridge, England, and emigrated to Australia at the age of 5 with her family. Other early hits include ‘Have You Never Been Mellow’ (1975) and ‘Physical’ (1981).
