Newtownabbey

Urban district of Belfast, Northern Ireland. It extends northeast from the city along the shores of Belfast Lough.

Newtownabbey

Administrative region in the east of Northern Ireland, serving an area in the south of County Antrim on the northern shore of Belfast Lough; area 151 sq km/58 sq mi; population (2001) district council 80,000; urban area 62,100. The towns under the council's remit include Ballyclare, Mossley, Monkstown, Whiteabbey, Glengormley, Ballyduff, Mallusk, and Carnmoney. The principal sources of employment include electronics, engineering, information technology, the communication industry, and distribution.
