Ney, Michel (1769–1815)Marshal of France under Napoleon I, who commanded the rearguard of the French army during the retreat from Moscow, and for his personal courage was called ‘the bravest of the brave’. When Napoleon returned from Elba, Ney was sent to arrest him, but instead deserted to him and fought at Waterloo. He was subsequently shot for treason. How to thank TFD for its existence?
