Niccolò di Liberatore

Also found in: Wikipedia 0.02 sec.

Niccolò di Liberatore (1456–1502)

Italian painter of the Umbrian School. Although provincial in style, he was able to give the tenseness of emotion to his religious compositions which distinguishes such works as his Christ on the Cross, (1487, National Gallery, London).

His early work is related to that of Benozzo di Lese, though afterwards he appears to have been influenced by such Venetians as Antonio Vivarini and Carlo Crivelli.
