Nicholson, Richard (died 1639)

English organist and composer. In 1595 he became choirmaster and organist at Magdalen College, Oxford, took a degree in music in 1596, and became the first professor of music there in 1627.

anthems; madrigals, including one in The Triumphes of Oriana; ‘dialogue’ (or song cycle) ‘Joane, quoth John’ for three voices.
