Nielsen, Inge (1946- )

Danish soprano. She studied in Vienna and sang widely in Switzerland and Germany, following her debut at Gelsenkirchen in 1973. Her roles included Blondchen, Norina, and Zerlina. She appeared with the New York City Opera in 1980, as Nannetta and Adele in Die Fledermaus. She created Minette in Henze's The English Cat at Schwetzingen (1983), and sang Amenaide in Tancredi at the 1986 Wexford Festival. She made her London debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 1987 as Constanze; she has also sung Aspasia in Mozart's Mitridate (Munich, 1990), and Gilda (Oslo, 1992).
